Narmeena Sunderji
Secretary
Narmeena Sunderji was raised in the North Shore and is happy to be serving on the NSSRC board as secretary after supporting family and befriending members of the stroke club in the past.
Her background in Naturopathic Medicine has given her a broader, nuanced, and defined appreciation of the significance of impactful life events in an individual’s life, including that of their family and communities.
That’s when she had a chance to learn about communication differently. Looking just at health, she learned that when communication from within the mind, body, and soul shifts, so does interaction with the outer world.
In stroke, it’s often pronounced, and its effect is intimately understood, often only once experienced. This knowledge helped immensely when supporting loved ones, but the experience of being an impacted supportive family member was different, to say the least. Having NSSRC for loved ones in those times was important, and she would not have known had they not shown up. Valuable.
It brings her happiness to be serving with the board to ensure that the voices of members are honoured and continue with their needs in mind. Being a part of the board has also increased her appreciation of those who provide support and help to sustain highly impactful, smaller niche nonprofit organizations.
She has had close experience to see how valuable this membership has been in the lives of her own loved one as well as that of the other members.
Narmeena received her BA at Wellesley College and a doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine at Bastyr University.
