Ross Stewart
Board Member
Ross has recently retired after years in both the private and public sectors. He is a proud graduate of Simon Fraser University from the Faculty of Science (Biology) and added a Chartered Investment Management (CIM) and Fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute (FCSI) designations while working.
While both attending and after graduating Ross was actively engaged in the governance and leadership of the university, having served as both the President of the Student Government and its Alumni Association. He also served on the University’s Senate, numerous Search Committees, and other key initiatives such as the SFU’s Downtown Campus Planning Committee, and its Athletic and Recreation Advisory Committee.
His time and education at Simon Fraser also instilled upon him the importance and need to always serve, educate, and engage in the betterment of society, therefore supporting and volunteering has been a consistent part of Ross’s life. Whether it was having to be the President of a Montessori Society, coaching a Provincial team to a medal at the Canadian Championships, serving on an organizing committee for an IOC Olympic Qualifying International Tournament, or Managing a National Team on a multi-country tour.
Human wellness has always been at the forefront of his thinking and the opportunity to be able to serve on the NSSRC board was too important to not pass by. His energy, enthusiasm, commitment, and skill sets are a welcomed addition. Ross has been a long time resident of Vancouver and when not volunteering is actively exploring the world both near and far away.
