Volunteer

Volunteers are integral to our success

In assisting staff, volunteers may be assigned one or several tasks and may be required to attend workshops and training sessions to enhance programs. It is essential that volunteers give of their time with understanding that their assistance must benefit survivors of stroke and the NSSRC, they must be team players and volunteers themselves must get satisfaction from their volunteerism. It is mandatory that volunteers are proficient in spoken English and are comfortable working with adults and seniors living with the effects of strokes.

Volunteers Needed

Program Assistant

Under the direction of staff, you will assist in weekly programs and activities offered to members of the NSSRC. You may volunteer for one or more of the following programs: Exercise, Music, Speech, Art, One-to-one program support and Computer/iPad assistance. Additionally, if you have a talent you would like to share with the NSSRC, let us know!

Kitchen Assistant

Kitchen volunteers will assist with the preparation and serving of refreshments and maintain the orderliness of the kitchen including washing dishes. (There is a dishwasher on site and training would be provided.)

Speech Therapy

Under the guidance of the Speech Language Pathologist, volunteers will work one-to-one with members who are receiving speech therapy individually or in group sessions.

Fundraising and special events

Volunteers will assist with fundraising initiatives and special event planning and implementation. Volunteers will work as part of a team and under the direction of staff or a board member.

Board of Directors

Volunteers are needed to actively participate on the board to provide leadership and advocacy. We are currently looking for individuals with strengths in fundraising, marketing, event planning and website management.
